Beyond the Map

Real places. Real history. Rebuilt in Rust.

Beyond the Map is a series dedicated to researching, documenting, and recreating remarkable real-world landmarks in RustEdit.

Every structure has a history. Behind its architecture are the people who designed it, built it, worked there, and sometimes struggled to keep it standing. These stories deserve as much attention as the buildings themselves.

Each project begins with historical research: archival photographs, original blueprints, official records, contemporary documentation, and the accounts of those who knew the place.

That research becomes a detailed documentary article, preserving the history, purpose, architecture, and human stories associated with the landmark. It also provides the foundation for an accurate three-dimensional reconstruction in Rust.

The objective goes beyond reproducing a recognizable building. It is to understand what made that place significant, how it functioned, and what remains of its story today.

Each reconstruction is a tribute to a real place and the people who gave it life.

Beyond the Map brings those stories into Rust, where history can be explored from an entirely new perspective.
