Rust Observer Rules

Rust Observer is an independent site dedicated to observation, analysis, and creation around Rust.

To keep the site useful, clear, and sustainable, a few rules are necessary.

1. This site is unofficial

Rust Observer does not speak on behalf of Facepunch Studios.

The analysis, hypotheses, comparisons, creations, and interpretations published here are not official information unless clearly stated.

A hypothesis must remain a hypothesis.
An observation must remain an observation.
Official information must be sourced.

2. No cheats or harmful exploits

Rust Observer does not publish content intended to cheat, bypass game systems, exploit flaws, harm servers, or bypass access to paid content.

Technical discussions are allowed when they support creation, map making, observation, documentation, or design analysis.

They are not allowed when they are meant to break the game or harm players.

3. No server drama

Rust is an intense game. Raids, conflicts, alliances, betrayals, and clan stories are part of its culture.

But Rust Observer is not a server courtroom.

This site does not publish campaigns against a player, admin, clan, or community.
This site is not a place to settle scores.
This site does not publish doxxing, harassment, or private screenshots used to attack someone.

4. Credit creators

If an idea, map, monument, image, video, screenshot, reference, or creation comes from someone else, it should be credited.

If the credit is unknown, we say so clearly.

If a creator asks for a legitimate correction or removal, the request will be reviewed seriously.

5. Separate facts, observations, and hypotheses

Rust Observer may publish three different types of material:

Facts: verifiable information.
Observations: things visible in the game, on a map, in an image, or in a source.
Hypotheses: possible readings, interpretations, assumed links, or narrative ideas.

All three are useful. But they should not be mixed together.

6. Respect players and communities

Discussions must remain respectful.

The following are not accepted: personal insults, harassment, racism, threats, doxxing, spam, suspicious links, aggressive advertising, illegal content, or attacks against groups.

Criticism is allowed.
Pointless demolition is not.

7. Corrections are welcome

Rust changes. Maps change. Monuments change. Rules change. Memories change too.

Corrections are welcome.

A good correction explains:

what is incorrect,
how it can be verified,
and what the corrected version should be.

Articles may be updated, annotated, or archived when necessary.
